I started sailing as a youngster in Racine, Wisconsin, on the family's Snark.  In Jr. High school, I started racing offshore boats at the Racine Yacht Club.  Hooked on racing, we moved to Daytona Beach and I fell in love with Hobie Cats, traveling across the Southeast to regattas for the next 20 years.  Five years ago an invitation to teach the youth summer camps at Halifax Sailing Association changed my heading and I decided to get the next generation of sailors on the water. 

Halifax Youth Sailing was born with the combined efforts of the children of families involved in the youth program.  Today, we have a core group of youth sailors sailing year round.  Summer sailing programs have been very successful.  With the birth of Halifax Youth Sailing, we expect much greater participation and a boom of sailing families in the Halifax area.
